A new venue, with fresh appeal and with a revised Tigers lineup, will highlight the 17th annual Detroit Baseball Dinner, 6 p.m., Jan. 27, 2018, at the Polish American Cultural Center in Troy.

Tigers General Manager Al Avila, in tandem with new manager Ron Gardenhire, will join the Tigers front office for this year's tradition, along with John Hicks, who will receive the 2017 Bill MacAdam Tenth Man Award for his work in 2017 as a vital Tigers back-up player.

Indeed, The Detroit Baseball Dinner has been regularly graced by a Tigers cast led by Avila, and in previous years by Dave Dombrowski. Assistant GMs John Westhoff and David Chadd are regulars, as well as Ron Colangelo, and assorted staffers. Jim Leyland has been a past dinner guest, as has former manager Brad Ausmus. All past celebs have said, candidly, they enjoy this group and evening because of the ambiance, warmth and knowledge of a sophisticated baseball audience, as well as the superb food, drink, and friendship this January evening embodies. Guests can also count on appearances from a past or current Tigers player, which this year will be Hicks, the catcher and first baseman who last season became an invaluable part-timer at catcher and at first base.

More good news: Our dinner price has been rolled back to $95, the same price charged at our first Detroit Baseball Dinner in 2002. Folks, this will be a feast. A premium, open bar will extend from the cocktail dinner throughout the evening, with only a brief interlude as dinner is being served. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be offered beginning at 6, with dinner set for 7. To view the full dinner menu, click here.
